Creating Music With World Instruments

Music as far as anybody knows differs in every country. The world possesses a rich heritage in music that is very different because of the musical instruments that they used to play. Ethnic instruments are part of our culture and legacy to the world in which we can really call our musical treasures. Due to the diversity of culture from different people and having creative imaginations, different musical instruments are created. These world instruments produce a feel of a familiar sound with rhythm and melody that we can relate to.

All of these portray a rich heritage as it came from different parts of the world. It may be a challenge to familiarize with each of them but getting to know some of the famous ethnic instruments that are being used up until today is a good knowledge to acquire. Considered as one of the oldest world instruments are the drums. As a matter of fact, the basic design has not been changed at all. It can be played in orchestras in replacement for violins, violas and violoncellos. Celtic harp is another string instrument that can be considered as one of the most romantic of all instruments. It can create sounds that can be relaxing. It is perfect for people who want to achieve tranquility and for meditation purposes. Lute, oud, psaltery, saz, sitar, mandolin, tanpura and bouzouki are other example of string instruments that are popular in world music.

Wind instruments. Wind instruments are the ones that offer a unique experience. They are instruments used for reminiscing rich culture and heritage that is being preserves by playing out distinct tunes Celtic Bagpipe is one the wind instruments that can produce a humming sound. This is also being treasured and supported by the active musical community. Other examples of wind instruments are didgeridoo, harmonium, rag dung and shofar.

Percussion instruments on the other hand have many types and have traditional functions as well. The gong is a kind of percussion instrument that is used for different occasions such as ceremonies, TV shows, weddings; start and end of contests, and many other occasions. Different types and sizes can produce different kinds of pitch. Caxixi, cuica, kalimba thumb piano, singing bowls and tambourines are other examples of percussion instruments still being used and preserved by the ethnic music community.
