Guitar Tricks Examined – Can You Learn Guitar With It?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Guitar Tricks is the most extensive online guitar course membership site available today. It’s been in business since 1998, and has an active membership base of guitar players. A membership allows you to access its giant catalog of 3000 guitar learning videos. The site literally has lessons on every guitar technique and skill you can think of, and I’m not sure that you will ever run out of things to learn.

Guitar Tricks is a good choice for almost anyone, whether you are just starting out, or have been playing for years. They are constantly adding to their database of guitar videos and new ones are being added every week. The content in each lesson is quite good, and the instructors do a very good job showing you how to play. The little graphic they add to the videos is a nifty feature which helps you time when to play each note. Beginners will really appreciate this.

You don’t have to be online all the time on the site either. If you choose to do so, you can download the videos right onto your own computer. You can then watch these videos offline using the Guitar Tricks branded video player. It’s a standard video player, but it does give you the ability to replay back specific portions of the lessons. So if want to play back a certain technique you didn’t get the first time, this allows you to do that.

The site also has a lot to offer for expert guitar players. It’s simple to find your favorite guitar players like Frank Zappa, Jonny Greenwood and Neil Young and discover lessons which will teach you the techniques that made them so special. You can learn so much from studying the great guitarists of our time. This is one reason why I think Guitar Tricks is such a valuable resource.

You may also be interested in talking to other Guitar Tricks members. You’ll have access to the forums, which has thousands of active members. It’s an interesting place to hang out, or get answers to some of your most pressing questions. You’ll might even meet some of the instructors on there once in awhile.

If you’re still on the fence about joining Guitar Tricks, you can sign up for a basic access membership and get 24 free lessons. It’s a good way to make sure if the lessons on the site match your learning style. A full membership is just $12.95 a month and there’s no long term commitment either as you just pay month to month. If you want to learn and master the guitar, but cant afford the cost of private lessons, give Guitar Tricks a shot. It’s a worthy investment towards your guitar education.
